WELCOME TO THE DAILY RIFF!

Our kids are telling us something. There is a revolution rocking their world in education.  Do we all know what's really going on? Are we prepared to guide them toward the right choices?

For the first time in decades, America no longer has the monopoly in education, which is key to our national prosperity, culture and security.  The education game has changed with hyper-speed momentum with technology, globalization and the ever-growing achievement gap as huge factors.

Yet we should also be looking at the other signs.  Have you noticed a growing sense that our kids are increasingly overworked, disengaged, or intellectually bored?  Or worse yet, are all three at once?

That's why we ALL need to be smarter about education.   There are answers but we also have to know what questions to ask.

As provocateur, muse, catalyst and game changer, The Daily Riff will "sniff and sift" through our edu-culture, "curating" news and opinion in quick, digest-sized take-aways for you to use and share.  We're doing the grunt work for you - eliminating the long, dry and irrelevant to present the "best stuff" every day.

You will not agree with everything that is posted.   The Daily Riff presents different perspectives, not so much to persuade, but to hopefully make us all think differently and take a new look at education.  And be forewarned, we poke fun at all of us - parents, educators, power brokers and thought leaders.

A daily dose of education knowledge IS power.  The more we know, the better decisions we can all make about our kids' education, no longer blindly accepting what the "experts" say to us.  Your comments will help create our community shaking up education, along with guest bloggers and contributors.

The Daily Riff asked why does education feel so inaccessible?  For something so personal and powerful, it makes no sense.  It's time to tear down the edu-crat ivory tower.

Too many people steeped in the educational "system" are beyond a point in their lives where they are able to comprehend the real impact these changes have on learning, teaching, brain development and intelligence.

And, we should all know education is big business with many special interests "at stake" steering the conversation.

We are here to let you know what we find... and to sort it out with you ...every day.

It's a wild ride - jump in and join us!
