Student As Customer?
Don't We Want Change That Works For The Student First?
So why aren't we listening more to our students? Do we think they are disengaged or underachieving because they have a problem? Perhaps we are the problem. . . or more likely, our pre-conceived notions and the systems we set up for them.
Below is a video of high school students, from Project Tomorrow, sharing their surprisingly discriminating answers to the question:
the education and skills to be successful in life?"
"Dear President Obama . . ."

"America is great because of CAPITALISM." ???
"Treat Schools Like A BUSINESS and STUDENTS as PRODUCTS!" ???
That kid needs an education.
Humans are not products, Minds are not reproducible widgets.
I know these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, except that kid has effectively been programmed with such sophomoric misinformation and is successfully spouting the free-market nonsense without questioning the underlying premises, or understanding the foundational concepts of learning.
I guess you can treat people as products, property, or slaves, and program minds with software then push them into the world to proselytize. No critical thinking necessary.
