Below is a great video from pandodaily, my new favorite tech site, about how the CEO of Deviant Art uses his artistic expression and journaling to help him think, reflect, organize or clear his head to work better.
And who said doodling was worthless?
One of the things that I like about DeviantArt is that it is a social media site (one of the largest) based upon user interests and shared art-work and writings. Whether it's anime, Dr. Who, Sherlock Holmes, comic book characters, there seems to be a group you can find to have a conversation, critique your work, advise, and praise. One can be anonymous and trolls are outed. (Disclosure: there is no financial interest related to this post.)
Now,I like it even better because they have figured out a way to help users make money from their work, unlike other social media sites where the user-generated content financial gains only go to the platform builders.
