Technology Hits Home

Randi Zuckerberg - yes, the name is familiar - sister of Mark Zuckerberg and an accomplished tech persona in her own right, is promoting balance in our tech-obsessed life.

In fact, she admits that before having her son two and a half years ago, she was "in the thick of things" and her days were consumed with disrupting something, changing and innovating.

Flash forward to today. Zuckerberg sees us as "entering a time of backlash" and the
"pendulum swinging the other way" where people are "rekindling their real-life relationships" and not just wanting their virtual relationships.

"Many of us have a complicated relationship with technology."
- R. Zuckerberg

Zuckerberg laments that parents are often concerned about what to do with their children and technology yet don't look at their own behaviors and how they may be modeling behavior to their children while preaching another kind.

"For every problem that technology solves,
it sort of creates a new one."
-Randi Zuckerberg

This new personal parenting perspective led Zuckerberg to author two books, one for adults, Dot Complicated: Untangling Our Wired Lives, and the second one for children, Dot.  As the above video clip shows, Dot takes the time away from her iPad to paint outside.  She is holding an iPad that flips over representing a real paint palette.
